Rishabh Pant, the Indian cricket player, will be transferred to a hospital in Mumbai for treatment of his ligament injuries in the knee and ankle, according to sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Pant sustained the injuries in a car accident while driving from Delhi to his hometown of Rourkee. MRI scans of his injured knee and ankle could not be performed due to swelling, so the extent of the injuries is currently unknown.
Pant will be treated by BCCI-appointed sports orthopedic doctor Dinshaw Pardiwala, and the possibility of surgery in the UK or US will be considered. Pant’s injury treatment and rehabilitation will be managed by the Sports and Medical Science team at the National Cricket Academy, led by Dr Nitin Patel.
