Air India introduces a new Mangaluru-Mumbai flight service

Air India has made traveling between Mangaluru and Mumbai even more convenient by launching a second daily flight service starting from June 10. This comes shortly after IndiGo added a third daily flight on the same route on May 22, as announced by the airport authorities.

With Air India and IndiGo now offering a total of five daily flights, the Mumbai-Mangaluru route has become increasingly popular. Last year, it served around 490,000 passengers, making it the busiest route. The additional flight options provide more flexibility and choices for travelers.

The new Air India flight, numbered 1679, departs Mumbai at 12:40 pm and arrives in Mangaluru at 2:10 pm. The return flight, AI 1680, leaves Mangaluru at 2:50 pm and reaches Mumbai at 4:35 pm. The inaugural flight of this service had 182 passengers on board, while 167 passengers departed for Mumbai.

In addition to the new flight, Air India also operates another daily flight, AI 679, which departs Mumbai at 5:45 am and arrives in Mangaluru at 7:20 am. The return flight, AI 680, leaves Mangaluru at 7:55 am and reaches Mumbai at 9:35 am.

IndiGo has confirmed that it will continue operating its third daily flight to Mumbai until the end of the current summer airline schedule, which concludes on October 28. Originally planned until June 15, the availability for booking tickets on this flight has been extended until July 31. As a result of these additional flights, the Mangaluru International Airport now experiences an average of 38 air traffic movements (ATMs) per day, with the passenger count, both domestic and international, hovering around 5,000.

Overall, the introduction of the second Air India flight and the continued operation of IndiGo’s additional flight provide travelers with more options, flexibility, and improved connectivity between Mangaluru and Mumbai.
